Viva Le Taureau

The best whitewater in New England is in Quebec. The Taureau section of the Jacques Cartier might be my new favorite river. It is a fifteen mile, class IV and V river at the bottom of a boreal gorge lined with massive granite domes. My good friend Chris drove over from Ottawa to meet me at the takeout. We set shuttle and rallied in the morning. The best thing about the Taureau is that it runs all summer. We had a perfect medium flow of 20 cumecs. It is the ultimate in downstream paddling. Unfortunately we did not stop for many pictures, but I did take a few shots. Check back for more updates from New York and New England this Fall.
